What do you consider Art? Video...

Okay, I'm on a bit of a video kick lately. This is pretty cute though. It's a little over 7 minutes long.

For all you artists out there you've probably heard all of these answers throughout your art career, but the presentation is a riot.

Dancing Freely

Major Lingo Band

There are shortcuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them. - Vicki Baum

A band called 'Major Lingo' played at Coyote Joe’s last night here in Prescott. This was the first time I experienced this band that has been together for 25 years now. They have quite the following, and understandably so, especially if you enjoy dancing.

My ex-brother-in-law, Gary, from my first marriage (which ended back in 1988), invited me to join him and his wife to come see this band. Since I needed a nice change of scenery from overworking I accepted the offer. I had no expectations of the night, I was just looking forward to a night of escape – and I’m happy to say that is exactly what I got.

At one point during the night as the entire place was hopping I began to look around the room at all of the people dancing freely – no partner dancing – men and women just dancing by themselves wherever they were. I can’t remember the last time I was in a crowd that danced like that. For the past four years I have been out dancing a lot, but it’s mostly been dancing with a partner or a group of women. This was very different.

"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be mad by those who
could not hear the music." -- Friedrich Nietzsche

I loved looking at all the people having so much fun, really into the music. Some of the people looked like they would not be the ‘type’ to dance so freely. But the music seems to pull you in no matter if you are young or old, a lawyer, therapist, or corporate executive -- everyone let their hair down. I loved it!

The room was full of great energy. Then I found myself watching the band members and imaging them 25 years ago when they first began their journey as a band. I was imaging them thinner, no wrinkles, and no grey hair, LOL! I wondered how their music and lyrics have changed and matured through the years as well. What a diamond in the rough.

I was caught up in the energy, dancing, jumping, singing, and having a genuinely FUN TIME! I wasn’t worried about anything. For those few hours I was simply living in the moment, smiling and laughing.

Dancing opens the way to the inner self and paves the way for the outer joy.

What a great time.
